Perfect bows!
Do you struggle with getting the perfect bows, like I do. I am always wondering if there is some simple little trick to getting the perfect little bows. Check out the BGTV (Basic Grey TV) video on their website (http://www.basicgrey.com/) for a tutorial on a great method for making perfect little bows. Click on the Scrapbook tab, then click on the BGTV tab on the top right.... then click on the Magnetic Snaps video, in which she shows a technique for making bows. Enjoy!

"Girl" School Picture Album
So.....Do you know where your copies of the kids' school pictures are? Are they in some box in some drawer or closet? That's where mine have always been, but I am going for a more accessible option for the grandkids' school pictures. I want something that I can pull out when the grandchildren are visiting and look at together with them....some place to list special memories and accomplishments for each school year.
So.... this is what I came up with:
The left side will house my journaling for each school year. I copied a template onto each journaling block, to make it as simple as fill-in the blanks. A 5x7 school picture (Actually, I will cut it down to 4 3/4" x 6 3/4") will be placed on the right side page.
I kept things super simple, since I was making several of them, but also so that the pages would lie nice and flat in the album. It was really hard to resist adding all of the embellishments and dimension that I adore, but sometimes practicality wins out. This layout is so simple, even non-paper crafters could master it easily.
This is the girl version, done in pinks, browns, creams, and greens. I will post the boy version later this week. The kit includes the box, 14 page protectors, and all of the papers (pre-cut to size), journaling templates, and letters/numbers ( Again, pre-cut. All you have to do is adhere them to the page.)
I am posting pictures of each of the pages in the kit for you to reference while putting your pages together.
This is the cover page and the back most page. The templates for the "School Memories" text (cover) and for the Dr. Seuss exerpt (back page), are included in the kit.
The pages below are each individual school year from Kindergarten on up. Journaling on the left and picture on the right.....
Pricing for this kit: $32.
Includes the 6x8 leather Memory Album with magnetic closure, 14 clear page protectors, paper (pre-cut to size), numbers/letters (pre-cut), and journaling templates.

Family Album
Wow! Welcome to Way Cute! Scrapbooking kits! A number of the kits posted will be from Basic Grey. Their designs are simply "to die for", and the kits are very well priced. The kits will be available here for less than retail, so it's cheaper than going to the store. We all love cheaper...and no need to cut coupons.
Some of the kits will be my own design. As I find good bargains, I will pass them along to you in the form of a kit. The first kit listed is a Family Album, my design. I first made this album as a Christmas present for my mother who was wanting to document our family story. I thought this might be a good starting point. Well, one thing led to another and before I knew it I was making albums for my entire family. Fortunately, once I had the originals made, it was easy to photocopy the remainders and simply insert them into their own book. I actually prefer how the copies lay in the book. They are only one layer thick, so I was able to fit 40 pages in a book.
So... here's how I started.... I began with this high quality leather Scrapworks 6x8 memory box. It is fully enclosed, so no dusting the tops of the pages. It has a magnetic closure.
Then I added page inserts and papers. I kept the design simple, due to the volume of pages I was planning on adding. Most people will not need to do as many pages as I did, for sure. I started with my parents and included all of their descendants. You could simply do your immediate family and make it a much smaller project.
I kept the page layout the same. That was my continuity. But... I used a wide variety of papers (see picture above for a sampling). Different colors. Different styles. I also made my first book with button embellishments, but found that they were way too thick, unless I photocopied. Brads were much better. So ...for my husband's side of the family I place three brads along the lower left edge of the photo, where the buttons are located in these pictures.
It has been fun to see family off all ages turn the pages over and over and over again. It truly has been a cherished item in our family.
Volume Discount: $17 each when purchasing
3 or more Family Albums

I placed a 4x6 picture on the left hand page and some journaling on the right hand page. I included name, birth info, nicknames, and interests. I also included a wedding page to introduce each married couple.
